Mary
Ann Scherer R.N.J.D. is an attorney in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. She has practiced in the area of Family Law --
specifically Adoption -- for 25 years. She was admitted to
the Florida Bar in 1978.
Education:
University of Miami, R.N.B.S. with honors 1974; Nova University
J.D,. 1978.
Scherer is
licensed as an attorney and Registered Nurse in the State of
Florida. She is a member of the American Academy of Adoption
Attorneys, the Florida Adoption Council, the Florida Bar, and the
Broward County Bar Association, and holds to the highest standards
of practice as required by those associations. She is also
"AV" rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Scherer also
serves as a Special Public
Defender in the Dependency division of the Circuit Court in
Broward County (Fort Lauderdale), Florida. She encourages
birth parents who have become involved in the system because of
abuse, abandonment, or neglect to become actively involved with --
and to take responsibility for -- the care and welfare of their
children.
Mary Ann
Scherer has a private practice in Family Law where she represents
clients in divorce and other related family matters in a manner
best designed to preserve the family unit that will continue,
between parents and child.
The adoptions
which Mary Ann Scherer handles include placements which range from
open to closed, agency, special needs, relative placements
(including grandparent placement) , international adoption, and
placement of abused, abandoned, and neglected children.
Her goal is to
help every child that can be helped. She acknowledges that
this is a monumental task but if we just start with one child and
we all help, then it can be done.
Scherer
provides services to birth and adoptive parents in private
placement in and out of the state of Florida. She assists with
home study coordination, medical, and subsidy referrals. She
assists with international adoption referrals and coordination of
dossier and INS requirements. She also provides re-adoption
services to adoptive parents of international children to Florida
families.
